We are committed to democratizing access to expert admissions essay advice by keeping our prices as low as possible while maintaining the highest standards of service. We have also placed literally hundreds of pages of content online in the form of our comprehensive essay help course and many sample, successful personal statements to provide free help to applicants around the world.

For college applicants who lack the ability to pay, we also pledge $25,000+ in free admissions essay editing services per year, and we provide twice weekly FREE Zoom office hours.

What are the ethics of essay editing?

We level the playing field for our clients. We think it is the height of cynicism to imagine that a service that costs generally $79 confers an unfair advantage. The system is the disadvantage.

In the admissions game, many start from an enormous advantage, paying in some cases tens of thousands of dollars for expensive test prep tutors, literally hundreds of thousands of dollars on expensive private schools with the best counselors, and they top it off with unlimited budgets to pursue activities and interests. That’s been the way for decades and will likely be the way for decades more.

We seek to improve upon this unfairness by delving deep into one topic, knowing it better than anyone, and making that advice available to everybody.

We also do not write essays for clients. Please review our approach to editing for the types of changes we make. Our edits are comprehensive and substantive, and we make them in an effort to improve the underlying document and make it reflect well upon the author, as any good editor should.

You can learn more about our business principles here.

Will my editing order be kept confidential?

Absolutely YES! Please review our five core business principles.

Where do the samples on the web site come from? Do you buy license to sample essays?

Yes, we do. We purchase the license to sample essays and pay $100-$150 per essay. You can submit your essays for evaluation at EssayCoach.com

What if I want my editor to review another draft of the essay after I make additional changes?

We heavily discount our Second Reading service. Just visit our services page, choose your school, then choose the Second Reading service.

Can I request an editor?

Typically editors are requested for the Second Reading service when a client wishes to use the same editor to edit a new draft. You can always request an editor to work with. However, if that editor is unavailable, we will spend 24 hours determining if the requested editor can do it; otherwise, after 24 hours, your order will be reassigned to a different editor and your order’s start time will begin.

How do I communicate with my editor?

You will be able to communicate with your editor via email once the order has been completed. If you purchased the private Zoom session, that will be scheduled within 48 hours of your order.

Who are EssayMaster’s editors?

We strive to set the standard for excellence in our industry by hiring only the best editors who have themselves gained admission to the most selective programs in the world and by ensuring every order is reviewed by a primary editor and a quality-assurance editor. We limit ourselves to editors educated at Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Stanford, and Columbia. Each editor has the credentials to maximize your chance of admission to your chosen school, and each has passed a rigorous recruiting process. Overseeing the editor network are five managing editors with more than 50 years of experience in editing and admissions consulting.

Do you use AI to help improve my essay?

Humans are still—by far—the best option for editing. Still … AI has come a long way. Certain language models, like GPT-3, have evolved emergent reasoning capacity. In the year 2021, it would be foolish to imagine that machines cannot aid a human editor. AI-assisted human editing is the state-of-the-art in admissions essay editing. In the first round, the job of the editor is what it has been since Gutenberg: to improve the words on the page, to look for big-picture issues, to judge the substance, to improve transition, to ensure the reader wants to move from word to word, from sentence to sentence, and from paragraph to paragraph.

But the machine has a place too. The machine is helpful in ensuring an absence of carelessness. In the hands of a skilled editor, language AI improves the editing process. We’ve analyzed many hundreds of successful essays accepted by Harvard, Yale, and many other leading colleges and graduate programs. We’ve scored them against leading language models, and we can tell you how your essay ranks against these successful examples, and we edit it to ensure the writing itself scores in the same range as essays accepted by the finest universities in the world.
